About Ashe

YA author Ashe Skolnekovich’s goal is to maintain a soft heart in a very hard world. They believe that young readers need inspiration and tales of strength and courage that offer hope when facing the challenges of becoming adults. In their own life, writing was their way to cope, and even when their stories had no real form or structure, they always felt most alive when they were writing.

Ashe mostly avoided the torture of growing up through stories, but it wasn’t long before they realized that if they wanted to share their wild, inventive worlds, they needed to study the craft of storytelling. They found a magical school, Full Sail University, where they were able to give structure and focus to their creativity, and they earned their Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing for Entertainment. While in school, they discovered their talent for young adult and fantasy novels, as well as screenwriting. Through the themes and lessons in their tales, they hope to give other readers reasons to hold on and keep growing, even when life is uncomfortable and seemingly impossible.

Ashe currently resides in Rochester Township, Pennsylvania with their precious pooch, Zeus, and their husband, Scott. Ashe is currently working on a soft, queer fantasy, about an undiscovered witch who accidentally enchants her crush's tea order with a powerful love spell.

FAVORITE GENRES

FAVORITE MEDIUMS

Prose

There's nothing quite as contenting as getting inside of a character's mind and letting the world get to know them. I find that the best stories are told in prose, and I enjoy the chance to delve deeper into the details.

Fantasy

I am the most wellversed in Fantasy. From the moment I started writing, I experimented with creating different worlds with creatures old and new. Fantasy will always be my specialty, just as magic will always be close to my heart.

Games

Let's face it: I'm a giant nerd at heart. The only thing that I find more entertaining than playing games, is creating the story world for new ones. The challenge of coming up with new concepts and characters, and finding ways to push the mold on new gameplay for other die-hard fans, are the most thrilling opportunities.

Scripts

I've only just begun to discover how to write in this fascinating form, which is one of the reasons it's so enticing to me. It's a brand new way to challenge myself to be thorough, but brief, all while telling a story in a gripping style.

Young Adult

I have not read more powerful stories than those that lie within the pages of young adult novels. These strong voices are things that I have mirrored, yet molded into my own, in my works. To give hope, to give the idea that we are more powerful than we can imagine–these are all things that I find important to voice in my works.

Anything New

Seriously, I love to try new things, and I just love writing in general. As long as I am creating or enhancing characters, worlds, or ideas, and exploring themes, I am doing what I was born to do.

Dark vs. Soft

I love exploring different themes. For a long time, dark fantasy held the biggest piece of my heart. Lately, I've delved into a softer, and even more magical, form of storytelling. The stakes are still as high as ever, but there's a cozier, and much more needed element to these tales in a world that's felt too cold for too long.
